Welcome to Mira Dental Services
Since our founding in 1996, Mira Consulting, Inc. has been dedicated to providing the highest quality dental professionals and dental services to private dental offices, public health clinics, correctional facilities, government organizations, area Pueblos, schools and the citizens of New Mexico.
“We believe that all New Mexicans should have the opportunity to attain their full health potential. No one should be disadvantaged from achieving this potential because of their socio-economic position or racial/ethnic origins. As stakeholders, we affirm that oral health is essential to general health and well-being and are dedicated to increasing access to care for all citizens.”
On Site Services
Mira is committed to increasing access to dental care for the uninsured, underinsured and Medicaid eligible citizens of New Mexico through our site-based dental programs, dental clinic, community partners and community co-providers.
As charter members of the New Mexico Oral Health Council, Mira has played a key role in the development of the state’s strategic Oral Health Plan to build oral health infrastructure, increase access to care, form collaborative partnerships, and to develop and employ innovative treatment and delivery methods.
The NMOHC is comprised of dental healthcare providers, state and local public health officials and others committed to improving oral health and access to dental services in New Mexico.
Since it was founded in 1996, Mira Consulting, Inc. has been the state’s most visible and effective provider of school-based oral health care. Mira partners with schools throughout New Mexico to deliver dental health care to the uninsured, underinsured, and Medicaid-eligible children in school-based, portable dental clinics and in our Safety Net Dental Clinic. Through our school-based programs and clinic, Mira has treated more than 130,000 at-risk children. Many of these children had received no dental care in their lives before Mira provided them with safe, comprehensive dental care.
Nursing Home Services
Mira provides comprehensive dental services to residents in long-term care facilities and other non-traditional locations. Good oral health care should begin at birth as part of overall health care. This important component of health care should not—and cannot—end at retirement. Proper dental care must be a lifetime commitment. Unfortunately, for far too many older Americans, oral health care is a luxury. Too many of our “greatest generation” suffer from chronic oral pain and periodontal disease, severely limiting regular activities of daily living and impeding their independence and quality of life.
Juvenile Justice Programs
Youth in the juvenile correctional system are a high-risk population who, in many cases, have unmet dental health needs. Multiple studies have found that poor dental health issues occur at higher rates than in the general adolescent population.Mira’s ability to provide care in non-traditional settings utilizing innovative practices has made it the primary provider of dental care in juvenile justice facilities for the State of New Mexico and Bernalillo County.
Mira’s Staffing Division places highly qualified dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants in a variety of public and private settings throughout the state. In doing so it fulfills a critical need, as New Mexico continues to experience a serious shortage of dental professionals.
Mira ensures that all required licenses, registrations, certifications, credentials and insurance associated with providing oral health care services are active and in good standing with the New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care, the American Dental Association and the American Dental Hygienist Association.
Mira Dental Clinic
Some 75% of children referred to a dentist for restorative care do not seek treatment due to access barriers. These include the family’s lack of transportation, job conflicts, lack of child care for siblings, language and cultural factors, and limited availability of providers who accept uninsured or Medicaid-eligible patients. To address these barriers and increase the number of children receiving necessary treatment, Mira established a permanent dental clinic in 2009. The Mira Dental Clinic, located at 6808 Academy Parkway East in Albuquerque, serves as a safety net and referral source for students and families needing a permanent dental home.
